Systematics and Biogeography

Lead Professor: Dr. Ward Wheeler

Co-professors: Dr. Joel Cracraft and Dr. Lorenzo Prendini

Duration: 15 weeks starting September 2, 2008; last week for Final Project presentations

Lectures: 10-11:30am T/TH 28 lectures/discussion 90 minutes each

Labs: Thursday, 1:30-4:30pm, 14 labs 180 minutes each

Description: This one-semester class will explore the principles of systematics, the science of classifying organic diversity, contemporary systematic methods, and biogeography.

Museum Seminar Series

 Professor: Dr. Susan Perkins and Guest Speakers (See syllabus for details)

Duration: 18 sessions over Fall and Spring Terms

Lectures: 11:00am to 12:00pm, Mondays (public)

Discussions: 12:15am to 1:15pm Mondays (registered students only)

Description:  Throughout the academic year, the AMNH will present the weekly Museum Seminar Series at which presentations on a variety of scientific topics will be given by leading scientists.

Grantsmanship, Ethics, and Communication

Professors: Dr. Mark Norell and Dr. John Flynn

Duration: 14 weeks starting September 3, 2008

Lectures: Wednesdays, 1-4pm.

Description: This course will be offered in a workshop format and focused on how scientists operate within the broader range of society.
